I went exploring in a woods yesterday, the weather was warm and sticky with the first signs of spring. I ignored the warnings telling me to keep out, jumped a fence and went exploring, even against my better judgement that I could quite possible get shot (just joking! well I hope not!). I ended up taking some self portraits on my adventures. It's been a while since i've got out the trusty tripod and remote. I'm not really one to photograph myself unless i'm absolutely desperate to take some portraits, and lacking in models. It is fairly difficult to photography ones self with a manual lens and no auto focus! But I was just having some fun and playing around.

I am trying to organise some shoots in the up coming weeks, i've have a million ideas dancing around my head but i'm stuck when it comes to putting them into motion. I've been occupying myself with learning to sew, creating cute little things and rescuing vintage clothing for my project The Bare Bones. I'm very excited to show you all what i've been working on, I just need to get my ass into gear and finish it all.

The bare bones project is a collection of rescued, re-syled and re-vamped vintage clothing and handmade accessories.

Based in little, old Adelaide, the project involves collecting vintage clothing based on a central theme (such as bold colours, bohemian, animal print etc) and then altering each piece and finally styling a fashion photo shoot with the finished collection.

Each piece will be for sale in the etsy shop (http://www.etsy.com/shop/thebarebones?ref=pr_shop_more), so to produce funds for the next collection.

So watch this space! Lots of pretty clothing to come, and of course lots of pictures!

A week ago I was in sydney exploring the big city. I was fortunate enough to photograph two lovely models at beautiful locations on my trip. These images are from my shoot with the stunning Andrea. We met in the morning in the city, and caught a ferry across to a very special location (and one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen!) We hiked up rocks and walked on the beach and captured every pretty moment.

casper&pearl

A few weeks ago I shot the new collection for casper&pearl and here are the results. (Sorry in advance, this is such a large blogpost!). The very talented Stacey Hendrickson is the designer of this lovely label, and we had a wonderful MUA for the day, Jessica Paech. The weather was awfully chilly, and I dragged the poor girls on a hike throughout the woods but the cold weather didn't stop us.

We threw together some combat boots, lace, floral, backless, cutouts, forests, running, spinning, heidi braids, vintage cameras and daisy headbands to make the perfect picnic with lots of giggles along the way.

It feels so wonderful to photograph again, for this shoot it was a collaboration with Chanelle Leslie the blogger behind Not So Naked (http://notsonaked.blogspot.com/).

It was styled with a marching band theme in mind, with cool blue tones, pretty instruments and bold lipstick. These images are simply film stills from the day, seeing as my objective was to shoot some video to form a kind of fashion film that represents moving images (this is to come soon! currently editing).

Stills are my usual forte, I grabbed some shots from the film that I really enjoyed.

This shoot was perfect for winter, with warm jackets and cosy hats. Such a beautiful location on a wooden boat, with the pretty ocean backdrop. Such a fun day, and very lovely model Lucy who did so well for her first time!

Here are some pictures I took at Angelica's 18th bash, loverly evening really and these were taken on my little holga (i'm a hipster yo yo yo).

This night was pretty intense at the start. Lucy and I rescued an old man who had fallen asleep on his scooter on the road, we helped him into his house with these nice lads who were helping us out. The poor man didn't have any family, was restricted to a wheelchair because he was an amputee and well, his house was in bad shape. We stayed with him, called an ambulance because he needed some help, and i'm praying that they can find him some more permanent help.

By the time we made it to this party we were quite shook up, but still ended up having a loverly time and causing some mischief.

On another note, lots and lots of exciting things planned this month and next, so watch this space kids.

play me, i'm yours

the first time i saw this piano, i thought a busker had abandoned their instrument. although, i stood and wondered how on earth they managed to move their piano into our town mall. the words written on this piano, "play me, i'm yours" confused me further. each morning and evening, when i pasted this piano on the way to my work, i saw a different person stroking the keys, playing soft songs, each so beautiful in their own way. i saw young boys stopping to play chopsticks after school, a father with his young girl sitting on his lap, a homeless woman playing a sombre tune whilst busy shoppers bustled past, business men stopping briefly to press the keys. each united by the same moment, the same music, the same piano. i have never been more touched by a piece of art, i have never missed a piece of art like i do these piano's.

New things are happening for me, a few more weeks and a big change that i hope is for the better. I've been a little bit lost, and i'm working on that. Sometime I seem to get too caught up in the future, and the past, and completely forget about the present. I make all these lists and plans, which doesn't get anyone anywhere.

On a positive note, I've got some stuff lined up, an photo shoot for the loverly Casper&Pearl (see the pretty clothes here: http://casperandpearl.blogspot.com/) and a few other things. I don't really write on this blog, but I figured I might as well start in the blogging craze.

Short story of images taken on the weekend when it was icy and cold and we went for a drive to the woods with too much chocolate cake. My main aim was to take some black and white film photos for my class, so we'll see how those turn out! It is way too early to be writing a blog post...

I have never written an entry on this blog, it has purely been a place where I have documented pretty pictures of pretty places with pretty people. So here are some words to go with the images, a voice behind the colours and movement and moments. It has been too long since I have had the time to photograph for the love of it, and soon that will change.

being an artist is not something you want to do, or dream of being. it is simply something you just know. it is a need, a longing, it's passion. artists have strong souls, work for spare change and love every moment. they are under-appreciated, unnoticed and often forgotten. whether they create with brushes, hands, tools, voices, feet or objects, an artist is a person who knows what they want, need and see in this world, and if you open your eyes, they'll show you.
